Job Profile and Objectives

The Media Buyer will negotiate and buy the DMA-based media plans that best reach our target and meet the needed business objectives with an emphasis on top funnel tactics and customer acquisition. They will manage media buying, audience activation, creative implementation, post/clearance reporting, and budgeting across all mass media inclusive of Local TV, Connected TV, Radio, OOH and Print. They will also contribute to the media planning process with research and insights, and recommend new media proposals that align with business opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for media buying and executing against the media strategy for 2 core retail brands and ensures alignment with cross functional teams for planning and implementation  
  • Negotiates best possible rates to deliver KPIs, including added value/bonus opportunities by brand and DMA
  • Day-to-day contact with affiliate stations, managing the partnerships, leading status calls, and providing strategic direction and media goals that deliver on business growth; maintains vendor/station accounts and relationships; develops new relationships with the addition of new stations and designated media markets 
  • Creates and updates annual media buying guidelines and goals, plan and budget costs by week to support sales goals of all retail locations, corporate and franchise
  • TV media expert in assigned local markets for media, localized competitive and target audience/demographics 
  • Develops and presents local market media proposals, researches new media opportunities and optimizes current spend for optimum results on a weekly and quarterly basis
  • Manages media budget forecasting and actualization on monthly, quarterly and annual basis for assigned markets
  • Presents and implements media campaigns for new store/new market grand opening plans, partnering with Creative teams for needed formats/sizes and target/language alignment in order to meet campaign timelines
  • Monitors media buys to ensure all brand safety, ad fraud, and viewability standards are met or exceeded
  • Monitors media for pacing, delivery, placement, flight date discrepancies, and negotiates weekly makegoods, credit or billing adjustments when necessary
  • Always in the know on the latest media trends and industry changes, sharing best practice and innovative ways to reach new customers and introduce our different brands (B2B & B2C)
  • Responsible for the preparation of insertion orders and placement of advertising with media vehicles, as applicable
  • Works daily with the Media Coordinator, who will assist with creative trafficking, invoice reconciliation, competitor research, budget accuracy per market/per media mix/per time period
  • Helps implement and manage media software platforms including but not limited to Strata/TradeDesk/Kantar/Squad/Nielsen/AdIntel 
  • Partners with our Digital Team for a holistic view to ensure the best media mix for a market and one voice to the customer
  • Manages all media agreements and contracts as needed 



  • Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
    • 3-5+ years Media Buying experience with local TV 
    • Retail experience a plus
    • Knowledge of mass and digital media 
    • Experience with media buying platforms; Strata, TradeDesk
    • Ability to deliver executive summary presentations
